Aristotle once said "all men by nature desire to know". The thirst for knowledge is one that many like myself share. Art, science, history, religion, culture, so much knowledge and information is floating throughout the world around us. Learning, to me, is one of our primary reasons for being. The search for knowledge and through knowledge the betterment of oneself is something quite amazing. I think it is something that is in us all but the love of learning can be hindered or amplified depending on the conditions and resources around us.
With technology advancing by the day, such a vast multitude of information has never been more readily available thanks to the almighty internet! Computers, televsion, ipads, ipods, kindles, cell phones, all have the ability to bring information right to your fingertips. It's amazing to me the level of technology my son will grow up with compared to what we had. It's inspiring and terrifying all at the same time as well! In short I love to learn and gather knowledge on all kinds of subjects! I think it's unfortunate that with all this technology that can bring so much knowledge to us, is in some way pushing our younger generation further away from the importance of education. It seems were leaning toward a country of game obsessed children and teens that only care about have the latest technology trends, neither with any interest towards learning...
Interesting. Do you see a day when all education is done online and "brick and mortar" schools are gone? As an aside - this is very hard to read...
ReplyDeleteThe new trend with electronics does scare me as well. As a person who always has her cell phone glued to her I can see the effects. I do not pay attention to work and school as well and even effects relationships with friends and family. They are trying to keep a conversation with me while I'm having ten others with people who aren't even present. It truly can become an addiction.
ReplyDeleteYour first post is very inspiring. It is inspiring to me that someone else sees (some) technology the way I do. Anymore if my friends start texting while we are talking F2F I just walk away. Your post is great!
